Harry Potter Tuesdays

While I was watching the news the other day I saw a commercial that the fourth Harry Potter would be playing on Tuesday night. Then I realized holy crap, another week has gone by already! Then... I realized that I have started to place my days of the week by when Harry Potter plays on channel 2 because they play every Tuesday night. Wow... that is what my life has come to. But anyways, I there has been things happening between these Tuesday nights as well.

I have almost become, well basically a professional hair stylist. As of a couple of days ago I have officially cut everyone in my cabin`s hair. They all have some random long whiskers here and there, but overall not too bad I`d say.

Back Update. Not too much improvement but I am learning alot about Chinese medicine now. I have told you I have been doing acupuncture. I am seeing a man named Greg Dorn who is from Britain but practiced acupicture as well as Yoga in Sydney. He moved to Queenstown recently with his family. He introduced me to the concept of Qi and a man named Jost Sauer. If you have a chance check out jostsauer.com.

From what I have learned from it so far, Qi is the energy movement in your body and your envirnment.... ultimately trying to find balance. Acupucture is trying to get a healthy flow of enerly/blood through your body so you can heal yourself. It stimulates specific "pressure" points around your body. Cultures around the world have this concept of Qi, its just called different things, like in India its called "prana" or "shakti", Egypt "ka", Greek "phenma". Your Yuan Qi is what you are born with and your Hou Tain Qi is about you absorb throughout your life. Yin in your inner Qi and Yang is your outer.. or environmental Qi. I`m not really sure how to explain all of it yet because I still havn`t gotten my head around all of it yet.  But I have realized that Chinese medicine or alot of non western medicines are all about figuring out the base of the problem, and looking at alot of different aspects of your life to see where the problem could have came from. It seems in western medicine its all about quick fixes with medicine and then keep going full force. Well, anyways I`m trying a combination of alot of different things to heal my back.. and we will see how it goes!

Travel Update. I will be visiting the University of Canterbury on February 23rd and the flying to Melbourne Australia on the 25th. While I am in Christchurch at the University I will be meeting with printmaking professors and checking out their MFA program.  After I have been away from working in a print shop for over a couple of months now I realize how much I miss it! I have been checking out some contemporary New Zealand printmakers at the library.. so if you have a chance check out Carole Shepheard or Peter Ransom. Carol was quoted about printmaking, "It gives me the opportunity to work in an area where magic and mystery take place".... a common idea of printmakers all over the world I`ve realized.
