Home Sweet Home (Becca) Well just as you thought it was all over I thought I would continue and write another entry, just to let you know what we have been up to since we got home. We have of course missed our family and friends so have spent lots of time trying to catch up with everyone. Apologies to those who we haven’t managed to see as yet but we will very soon. Next thing on the list was to satisfy the various food cravings we had had for the last 10 months. For me it was Shreddies (for those of you who aren’t familiar with this wonderful breakfast cereal then you really should try them) So I succeeded in eating about 15 bowls in the first week back. We’ve also managed a curry at our favourite curry house (well 2 in fact), I missed beans on toast, fish and chips (with PROPER mushy peas) and Brussels sprouts. For Byron he has indulged in some "proper" beer, decent peanut butter, Yorkshire pudding and of course the all time favourite chocolate fingers. And of course to counter the effects of the above we have rejoined the gym. So after a total of 6 visits to a gym in the 10 months we were away we have now been about 15 times in 4 weeks. No wonder I’m in pain. Most of the rest of the time for me has been spent job hunting, I haven’t chosen to return at a very good time so the process is slow but I’m sure something will turn up before long. Byron on the other hand has been wading through the ten thousand (of which I took about 50) pictures we took on the trip and whittling them down to a more manageable number. We don’t dare subject anyone to all ten thousand! So what have we observed about being home; it’s cold, I spent the first week back wearing a scarf indoors. It’s incredibly hard to wear shoes, after 10 months of hiking boots, trainers and sandals the first time I put on heels I felt like my feet were about to explode. Ouch. The bath is a wonderful invention, no more nasty shared showers, I can float around for hours on end. Oh and we also stuck pins in the world map, the one we have recording all of the countries we have visited. My count has now reached 47 and Byron’s is a 53. There’s 193 altogether so have a little way to go before we’ve been everywhere, time to start planning the next trip……. TTFN Becca X PS. Between us we read about 60 books whilst we were away, if you are looking for a recommendation try these….. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
