Back to school!

Bonjour people! Here is this months write up! Another EPL season is just a few weeks away and the transfers have started with ridiculous fees! Everyone is buying or selling except the mighty Hammers! Come on you Irons. This years predictions for top 3 are - West Ham, Man City and Liverpool! Predictions for bottom 3 are - Man Utd, Chelsea and Tott scum! The ashes is going great with England 1 Aussies 0! COME ON ENGLAND!

The boys are Back to school after a 2 week break. The break nearly advanced to 3 weeks when education Queensland closed the school for a week because of suspected swine flu cases with students. Luckily they reopened the school after only a one day closure. A bit hasty in the first place if you ask me!

The Smith boys went along to the WWE Raw live show with the Longmuir boys and the Nastri boys! We made posters for the occasion and I helped George make his one and only RAW poster. Whilst Harry received help from Mrs Longmuir with his H H H king of kings poster.  Obviously I feel George's poster was the the stand out poster but you can take a look and decide for youself!

During the school hols we took an overnight trip to our favourite location the Gold Coast to watch the Gold Coast Utd V Fulham footy match. It was a relatively small turn out with around 11000 in attendance. The boys were pleased to see ex West Ham player Bobby Zamora. Fulham lost the game 2-1 but they were hardly even trying. It was great to see an English premier league team touring in Oz.

Whilst we were on the Gold Coast we visited Mount Tamborine in the hinterland. There were some amazing views towards the coast and inland! We discovered the Rainforest Skywalk trek which was fun. A bit scary and high up! It didn't help when the boys were making the walkway sway and shake. I nearly had a heart attack but they thought it was hilarious!

The Medieval Festival was a weekend event held annualy at the Abbey museum. It was really good and interesting! There were loads of people all dressed up in olden day costumes. There were camps set up throughout the grounds displaying how people used to live and the volunteers would chat to you about what life would have been like. They put on sword fight displays, traditional dance displays, workshops, a battle reinactment and a joust! The boys had a go at archery but their favourite was the Knights royal rumble! They dressed up in Ned Kelly style helmets and carrying swords they took part in the supervised Knights programme. It invovled one on one fights, team fights and then a mass Royal Rumble type fight with every man for himself.  How cool?

Another big football game was the Brisbane Roar V Celtic game at Suncorp stadium. The last time Celtic had played on Australian soil was in 1977. The Celtic supporters were out in force and many had travelled from other states.  The green and white army filled the stadium with 31000 in attendance. A great game with Celtic winning 3-0 plus 4 streakers on the pitch!

FOOTBALL- The over 35s are currently second in the league. 1 point behind the top team with 2 games in hand so still in with a chance of finishing top. Gary's games may be numbered as injuries mixed with manual work are starting to take it's toll on the old boy. Harry's team have started to get a few points on the table and have put in some good performances of recent. George's team are still on a winning streak although they entered a tournament over the weekend and got knocked out in the quarter finals!

Cricket sign on is imminent with the new season due to start in October. Where is the time going! Talking of cricket Gary has been glued to the Ashes. Fortunately he was off for a week during the first test so he got to stay up very late every night to watch it all.

Congratulations to Phil Cannon who reached a half century not out!

I can't think of anything else. We are looking forward to your messages so keep them coming! Love to All! Bye for now!
