Bill & Annette On the Road
17th Aug 2009 - 19th Aug 2009
Home Again

We had planned on getting a new slideout seal installed in Elkhart, IN, along with new windshields, but the shop was booked until Wednesday. The technician there helped me identify the seal material and dimensions, and I was abl to buy the material at the well stocked RV Surplus store in Elkhart. It should be an easy installation back home. One windshield will have to be replaced, as a small crack started "running", and the other will probably also need replacement due to two new "bullseye" hits near the middle. This, too, can be done in Delaware later. So, we hit the road in earnest, and arrived at Annette's cousin Donna's farmette near Pittsburg yesterday afternoon. We had a great meal, enhanced by fresh vegetables from Donna's garden, and discussed plans for the upcoming beach trip in September.

After 14,000+ miles, the Cheetah is safely back home, and we two travelers are busy unloading it and noticing all the little chores that seemed to have piled up at the house. A storm with extreme winds had come through last week, and while our house was spared, the outside air conditioning unit took a hit which will require repairs, and a fair amount of storm debris will need to be cleaned up.

The trip was as fulfilling and exciting as we had hoped, and we can recommend an Alaska trip to anyone with the time for such an adventure. Thanks for enjoying it with us!
