Another week in wild and wonderful land

Builder J is really steaming ahead and the log cabin is really starting to take shape. He attaches all sorts of appendages to the structures to put them in place and then I've just to follow his instructions. When we put the very heavy supports in for the deck the instruction was "when I say run, just get out of here" Boy, that filled me with confidence! Anyway, it all has gone off without any hitch, long may it last.
They had been threatening us with rain all of last week, instead it just got hotter and hotter, had to switch on the aircon the other night at about 10 o'clock, true Durban mid summer heat. All we've heard on TV this week is that this is the last weekend of summer and then in the next breath we hear that by the end of the week we'll be hitting 30deg. You go figure!! The trees are shedding their leaves and get this, I have to go and sweep the cabin floor each morning before J can start building! It must look ridiculous....
We popped in at Point Pleasant on our way to Destiny to check out the Mothman Festival and treated ourselves to some local fare..my favourite is Funnel Cake,yummy...
We faded early last night after enjoying sundowners on the dock but the party animals carried on until quite late and were walking around with throbbing heads this morning and not much memory of the shooters they were downing to finish off their evening.
Julia is due to arrive in the States this week, she had two days in Tortolla in the Virgin Islands, it sounds like their destination has changed and they'll be making landfall in Fort Lauderdale. We were hoping to meet up with her in the Chesapeake but if she can't make it to us we'll take a drive down to see her.
Paul, Gilli and Daniel arrived in Houston, Texas this afternoon, crazy to think the whole Coates family will be in the States this week, a bit of a land invasion going on here!
Brenda, hope the shoulder is on the mend, we were so looking forward to you and Robbie coming out to join us. Oh well, we'll make up for it next year.
Hey, Geoff and Julie, your weather has been crazy, get here already, it's gorgeous, the wine is good and the beer is cold....

Next: Boy, have we've been on the move!
