What a week!

Well not only can you bring your boat up the river and anchor off 850 Eddy Lane BUT you can walk up to the cabin and knock on our beautiful front door! Very exciting!
We had such lousy wet, cold weather last week and Builder J was getting rather anxious about the floor getting wet yet again so getting the roof up was a priority. It was a red letter day last Wednesday as the roofing and the logs for the siding arrived and Builder J went into overdive!
Wednesday afternoon saw the 1st of the roofing going up and the cabin started taking on a completely different look. Now, after the tree cutting exercise last Sunday I thought I was up to anything, WRONG! Man alive, this was scary stuff! There was the builder up this ladder propped up against from the building guiding the sheeting up with me pushing it up from the bottom as far as I could just hoping and trusting Builder J not to drop the sheet and decapitate me. This was a very serious concern on my part and I thought I would share it with my beloved son..should have remembered what a sick sense of humour he has.
He burst out laughing with his dad joining in the hilarity imagining me running around like the proverbial headless chicken, flapping my wings screaming" Why the hell did you do that!" Oh, well I'd like to think they'd miss me just a little bit...
So with that said, the roof is up and I still have my head and we have the house wrapped ready for the siding to go up, we have installed the front door and two windows and today put the siding up for the one garage wall. Whew, that's quite a bit in a week I think we deserve our week off in Houston, don't you?
We went down to the boat on Saturday and once again were the only people on our dock, it was freezing and we didn't stick around very long on Sunday as the weather bureau had put out a freeze warning for that evening and the camper is so cosy.
The fall colours are really beautiful, the photos really don't do them justice but with them comes the cold weather, we are looking forward to heading down to some warmth in Houston. We actually have had a lovely day here today with more good weather on the cards for the next few days and you've guessed it ...back to the cold in time for our return next week.
We are going on a mini road trip with our family over the weekend and we're looking forward to hanging out with them for a week. Will let you know all about it when we get back.
Jules, bet you're loving being back in your own bed, wish you were here to play with us.
