Destiny

Wow, it's looking so good

Builder J is my hero! Our little cabin is looking absolutely gorgeous and I can tell you he definitely deserves his glass of red wine at the end of the day. Now, the helper (that's me) needs to eat some more Jungle Oats 'cause my arms get rather shaky when I have to hold things like bay windows and sliding doors in place while the builder runs round to secure it all. Nothing comes close to having to pass those roof sheets up to him and I still get the creeps when I think about it. You know between you and me I'm still miffed at my two boys rolling around with laughter imagining me running around like a headless chicken! Hah!
While the mornings and evenings are very chilly the last few days have been lovely and we have a lovely Indian summer arriving for the weekend. The countryside is starting to look very stark and apparently because of the unusually wet summer and the onset of an early winter the colours have not been as spectacular as they normally are. We''ll take their word for it, I don't think we'll stick around this late again.
We will go down to the boat club tomorrow to winterize Destiny and on Saturday they close the club for winter. We hope to catch up with the folks to say our good-byes, apparently they serve lunch so they must be expecting quite a few people to assist in the packing up.
We are in a quandry at the moment as Paul and Gilli have cancelled their Christmas trip home to SA and want us to join them in Calgary to experience a White Christmas. We have spent the whole morning trying to sort out changing flights but it doesn't seem to be a quick and easy thing to do. We all want Julia to join us but she has to get a Canadian visa and can't start doing anything until she knows what our plans are and we are due to fly out on 19th Nov, so not much time to change things. Paul says he would so love his family in their home for Christmas...it sounds lovely.
We have about 11 days left to get the cabin's siding up and sealed and the sliding doors up..should be a doddle with the super builder hitting his stride..must say I've enjoyed slapping on the sealer, Julia has taught me how to get down and dirty while painting!
Well all you folks that have had birthdays this past week I hope you celebrated in style and good luck to Alex as he gets into the thick of his matric exams.
