Mumbai - brilliant city

Hi people,

Have made it to Mumbai, back to civilisation.

After the nightmare which was the big city of Delhi, this place is awesome, same sort of place but as it is on the coast, you get a sea breeze to help with pollution and you can go to the sea front to get some space, perfect.

We went for a ferry trip to an island called Elephante. It is really cool with some great caves and temples.

One day we went to the Mumbai slums, unfortunately you have to keep your wits about you so I could not snap away like a Japanese tourist or we may not have got out. I have included two photos from the train. A moving place, people with nothing, but they still have big community and family values. We had a meal there and tried to add something to the very stretched economy.

As a total change we went the next day to the Taj Mahal Hotel for dinner, which was sensational. Really seeing how the other half lived (including super rich Indians).

I am also proud to be on the silver screen now, it's only Bollywood but everyone has to start somewhere! We were approached in the street to be extras in a film. I am not sure if they wanted the girl who I was walking with to be in it, but when I turned up every bloke was about a foot taller than me. All was not lost though as I managed to be in two scenes so was happy in the end.

An incredible city, a vibrant, rough diamond....

Be good, Sid.
