Tom "The Pom" on Tour
1st Mar 2005 - 23rd Mar 2005
March 2005

March has been a pretty active month looking back on it, and it is only now a thte end of term that we can rest. I have made the trip back to Palm Beach in desperation to try and get a part as an extra on Home and Away but with absolutely no success! We have been really busy at the school, having had St. Joseph`s Day and the GPS Head of the River to supervise. The Head of the River is the main rowing race between all of the Private Schools of Sydney at the Olympic facilities in Sydney. The week previously Joey`s had won the Australian Nationals very convincingly in front of about 5,000 people, but this was far more important as they hadn`t won it for over 35 years. They were very strong favourites and we headed out with 25,000 people to the lakes to see them try and do it. The amount of efforts that they had put in to it was unbelievable, but it was in vain as they came second, 0.31 behind Shore School. This was a great shame for the boys as they clearly were desperately disappointed with the result, understandably. Last Monday we had a huge night at Scubar, which is the HQ of Backpackers in Sydney, and as we know the manager, we can just get straight in without queuing for over an hour! So that was great and we got most of the gap students in there for the notorius Monday night excitements. For the first time in Australia, I had too much to drink too early on, and was absoultely gone, but managed to win a crab race which was very exciting and have won a 2 day surf camp all paid for which is great form. Loving that, and so a group of us are going down to do it. As the holidays draw closer and the trip to Melbourne and Canberra is on, I look forward to my last holidays before heading home in June. The year has passed so quickly it really has, but it has been very enjoyable. St. Joseph`s Day was a massive laugh also as we went to the theme park directly under the Harbour Bridge and stayed supervising on the dodgems all day which was hilarious as when the teachers came on there was a chance to get the ones that we didn`t like. It was fantastic, as we singled one out and attacked, but too much unfortunately, as it knocked her glasses off and she got a little whiplash which although the kids (and some of the teachers) loved, the more responsible adults believed it wasn`t a great example to set. A great day anyway, and better than a full days work! I do hope that everyone is well in their travels and back in England.

Next: Canberra, Australian Capital Territories

15B Cricket Team
This was the side that I coached cricket with all year and they were unbeaten including winning a thrilling last match smashing 19 off the last over.
