JFTC - Day 5 (Summary) Well, day 5 turned into being quite a day. First jump at 7.30 and final one near 4.30 and a World Record in the bag. The first few jumps were again very good. The standard of jumps this week has been awesome! Jump 4 was the decider. Everyone on the ground thought it was complete. Everyone in the air (with one or two exceptions) thought it was complete. Even the cameramen were not sure. Did they or didn`t they have all the grips at the same time? Rather than waste time waiting for the judges decision, the call was made to immediately go up and do the jump again. This was real tough. Can you imagine thinking for an hour you set a new World Record, only to be told it may not be and that you had to do it all over again? The girls had been celebrating in the landing area, there was a special fly-by by all the aircraft, a hugh round of applause by everyone on the ground! Very draining on your emotions and personal belief. However, the call was to repeat so that regardless of the judges decision, there was time for an extra attempt. The girls all geared up and met again in the creeper area. Kate once again managed to build up enthusiasm for everyone, Dan BC (who sang for the girls on Jump 4!) gave another speach to get the girls ready, and then it was to the planes. There was mixed emotions in certain areas as would be expected. However, everyone quickly focused on the job in hand. They were by now getting a little extra altitude (17K). Everything was in place, but how focused would the girls be? Well, we now know. An awesome skydive! Against some very high clouds, the full exit & build could very easily be seen from the ground. You could almost tell it was to be this one. Yes - there were still some problems, a slight over-boogie, followed by quick de-arch to get back up rescued one person, but this time there was no funnel, no one low, no one struggling. This was it. 151 women cleanly docked, held for 4.8 seconds. A new World Record. All Brit Chicks who were in Perris for the event were on the record dive.10% of the load were Brits - quite an achievement! The sky was filled with yelling - we all knew it was there this time! No careful checking of photographs to see if they had it. They HAD IT! All girls were clapped back into main area by everyone on the ground. A LONG hour then went by to hear the official results. 1st - Jump No 17 (previous jump) - it was VERRRRYYY close but no record. 2nd - Jump no 18 - 151 held for 4.8 seconds. The DZ erupted! All the girls hugged each other. There is a great solidarity between all the girls out here! Kates speach ended with the simple three words - Pool, Party, Champaigne This was the key to start a night long celebration (as I write, still going on!) I`ll fill in the details of the party tomorrow (if anyone remembers them, that is!) For tomorrow - no one seems to know what is planned! There was talk of a 2 point 151 way! However, Kate seemed unimpressed by this!!! She would have to organise it after all! Therefore, general plan is to head to the DZ when the hangover wears off! Seems the best plan to me! Finally Thanks again for all the messages of support. They truely have meant a great deal to everyone and have helped keep spirits high. In a way, you have also been part of this event and helped make this record!
