Going out west with Jim & Barb
7th Jun 2012
Setback

We had our first major setback yesterday (and as Jim's mum used to say, life's full or them). We left Norseman fairly early to head to Kalgoorlie. We were looking forward to having a look at some of the gold mimes there. the weather was lovely, warm & sunny; life was good. Then half an hour on the highway,we got a flat tyre on the car. The tyre was a right off, a huge slash right thru it. We had to unhook the trailer in order to change the tyre. The tyre was the back right and jim lay far too near the road for my liking to change it. I was a mess everytime a truck passesd , I stood far too near the road when vehicles passed to make sure the drivers saw him. Just over an hour we were on on our way again. Not to worry we thought , just get a new tyre for a spare and enjoy the rest of the day. Setback number 2, we couldn't get a replacement, 15 tyre places and not one had a tyre to fit our car. We gave up then. After talking to our nephew in Perth ,he gave us a name of garage near where he lives. Another phone call to them and we can pick the tyre up fro them tomorrow afternoon. All sorted. It was too late to day any,of the stuff we wanted to do. Jim played his final 2 holes of golf on the course there. It is a beautiful course, the greens grassy and green and jim parred them both. The golf thing has been a lot of fun. The roadhouse holes, we're rocky and dirty but the essence isn't to take it too seriously. He was given a certificate to prove he had done it.
We have done some more driving today and are 100kis from Perth. Tomorrow We spend the night at our nephews house ,north of perth. It will good to catch up with James,Emma and jack & Sienna ( 3 & 1).we are so looking forward to it. We then start our meander up the coral coast, taking about 3 weeks to do it. Still loving the adventure and looking forward to warm we weather. The days have been warm but the night freezing. Thanks for all those leaving messages.
