South East Western Australia
First stop the town of Albany, located on three beautiful waterways and within day trip driving distance of numerous national parks, all with different and wonderful scenery. The photos and descriptions tell the story. In Albany we discovered interesting architecture, great coffee roasters, seafood and wines. We spent more days than planned here because the new clutch that was installed in the car in Kununurra when the new gear box went in started to misbehave. It had to be replaced and when it was taken out of the car it was obvious that it hadn’t been a new clutch when it was put in. Oh dear! With photographic evidence as proof, we spoke to and sent a warranty claim to the Toyota dealer in Kununurra who was so embarrassed he refunded the full invoice amount for the new clutch. Now we can drive safely again in difficult terrain. Unfortunately the weather has not been so good, with heavy cloud for a lot of the time which prevented us from seeing the Porongurup Range, the Stirling Range and Cape le Grand National Parks at their best so they have all been added to our ever growing list to visit next time. Now we are embarking on a few days drive across the Nullarbor Plain to the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia and hoping we escape the big cloud that is blotting out the sun.
