Magnetic Island - stop flamin' raining!!!

It's 8:08am on Wednesday 11th July. I'm sat outside eating the spiciest pasta for breakfast (pretty normal), enjoying the scenery and the nice weather, finally!! Of course I'm not hangover free, that would just be silly but I feel good and am happy now the sun has graced us with it's presence. I can also see a kookaburra which is pretty cool (though it could be a woodpecker, I've just seen it's beak). Since my last blog above we've caught the ferry across to Magnetic Island, in the p*ssing down rain, in the pitch black. It was like being in a bad simulator, one that makes you want to be sick. Our hostel is in a wicked location though, right next to the sea, looking out to the horizon… though we've only just been able to see this as it's been raining the whole time we've been here. The people who run the hostel are slightly irritating and the crowd is pretty young but it's been fine all the same. Our room is mad though, it's like sleeping in a treehouse and everything appears slightly damp!?!

Yesterday we spent the day getting absolutely drenched!! I had 2 rain macs on, Kate started off with a bin bag but changed to a mac later on after being the envy of everyone on the island LOL!! We rode the bus round the island a few times (the island is pretty small though and you bump into the same people constantly, include the village idiot who took a shine to us - great! - we had to hide from him on the bus, not too hard since we were mac-ed up to the eyeballs) then went to the Koala sanctuary. I held a crocodile (or was it an alligator!? hmm, should have listened), a few lizards, a big snake and a koala - all very cute. Oh and I saw Tezza's cousin - the cutest tortoise ever, loved him. Later on we decided to buy a 4 litre box of goon (red this time) and nailed that - needless to say we were slightly drunk, especially after a 55% shot mixed with another spirit - I'm not sure I paid for that though… I woke up this morning in my clothes and was informed by our room mate that I came in, mumbled something and zonked out (pretty early I think) and Kate came in afterwards talking to me, though I was asleep, and then proceeded to sit on the girl in the bed next to her, haha!!

And here we are, we're catching the ferry to Townsville in about an hour and will stay there for 1 night then head to Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays where the weather will hopefully be nice and we can go on a boat for a couple of days. Fingers crossed.

Will write more when I'm there.

Mwah xxxx
