Kew High France Tour 2011

Day 17- Last weekend in Metz Evan though snow had been forecast overnight, it once again didn't eventuate. The forecast for the weekend indicates that there is still some chance that we will see snow before departing France. It is hard to believe that this time last year there was approximately 40cm of snow in Metz. The maximum temperature over the weekend is going to be 3 degrees, quite a contrast to the 32 degrees in Melbourne. While we are all looking forward to some warmer weather on our return, we certainly hope that we will not return to a heatwave. I assume that most, if not all of the students have enjoyed a sleep in this morning. I did manage to sleep in until nearly 7am this morning, however, Ms Sinclair is not a morning person and did not manage to surface until almost 11am. Most students had planned to spend the weekend in and around Metz, soaking up the atmosphere of the city for a last time. Some, however, had planned to travel to Germany with their host families and Ms Sinclair and myself were lucky enough to join Ella C (lucky girl) and her host family (the Principal of College Arsenal) on a day trip to Treves (Trier )-Germany's oldest town and a Roman Empire capital. The day was spent strolling around the historic sights, visiting the Christmas Market and eating German food. We returned to Metz after nightfall and our attention quickly turned to our trip tomorrow to Strasbourg and preparing to depart Metz for Paris on Monday. Ella, on the other hand headed out to join Natasha, Ella W and others for a night at the cinemas.
