Wudang Shan to Dali - another long haul

Hi again,

Ill make this entry which and easy... Instead of the 29 hours that I had been expecting, this journey turned into a 44 hour journey. I know!!!

The saving grace was that the buses were sleeper buses which means that I had a bed the whole way to a lot of sleeping was done.

It started off badly with Daniel having to call the bus driver and ask him to collect me specially off the side of the road as Daniel and I had got the wrong end of the stick with reference to where the pick-up was. All very stressful as I had no way to communicate with all the people who tried to throw me into their cars and take me somewhere for an elevated rate - a lot of them. The bus driver did come and get me which I was so grateful for and so grateful to Daniel who managed to arrange it.

At the 24 hour mark, I initialised communication with a guy about my age which was my best bet as to an english comrade. He informed me that I had been misinformed and the bus only arrived in Kunming at 10pm (7 hours later). I frantically called the hostel that was expecting me to find out whether I could still make it onto another bus that night - I could as the last bus was leaving Kunming for Dali at 11pm.

I arrived and knowing I only had an hour to make it to the other bus station, flung myself at a minibus driver, handed him the phone to talk to the hostel lady who would explain where I needed to go in Mandarin and I made it. Good good good.

On the next sleeper, we left an hour late after changing bus one and mid journey, pulled onto the side of the road for a 3 hour break in which time, I presume the driver had some shut eye. And what was meant to take 5 hours turned into 8.

And this is the story of how, I spent almost 2 full days sleeping on the move.
