Yamba
We are now settled in Yamba and have got over the surprise of having a couple of weeks of rain in May! We are thoroughly enjoying beautiful Yamba – with glorious sunny days and people who are so friendly, helpful and trusting. We went to the Yamba market this morning and made an unexpected purchase of meat for $120. We did not have the cash on us but the stall holder gave us the meat and asked us to either pay on next market day in 2 weeks, or, to deposit the money in their bank account! Where would you get that trust in Adelaide?
We walk on the beach every morning and see pods of dolphins most days. Yesterday the pod had at least 40 dolphins. There have been some whales sightings but we have yet to spot them. The birdlife is pretty good and we have quite a variety in our own little garden. They are so tame they bath in the birdbath with us sitting right next to the bath. We really do believe that this is our own piece of paradise and are living our lives in a state of eternal gratitude.
We recently visited Coffs Harbour to get the car serviced and spent the day looking for all the items we needed that are hard to get in Yamba. It is a lovely friendly town well worth exploring so the next time we have to go we will probably take the caravan and spend a few days.
We have had our first visitors - Jo, Nick and Jack and had a wonderful time with them. Nick gave Ed a surfing lesson and he now has the bug!
We will probably stay in Yamba until August or September before setting off down the east coast and across to Tasmania. It will be hard to drag ourselves away from here but there is so much to look forward to seeing and doing.
