Moving on From Onslow.
Today was moving on day again, so after a slow start, Wendy was up at some ungodly hour to watch the sun rise and keep an appointment with Venus (or some such star her brother has told her about) me, I did the sensible thing and stayed in bed. Finally beaky was over and the packing up completed and the gas bottle all filled and we were out the gate. Well I needed to get some gas Wendy needed to do some shopping and guess which took the longest. Anyway after a short break she returned and we were on the way. Well not quite we had to go to the local park because there were some Sturt dessert pea growing, so around we went then it was cuppa time then it was walk around the park time. Finally leaving the park we still had to find the town “Dump Point” (to empty the loo). This involved one more lap off the town so after what seemed like about 6 laps of a small town we were on our way. We had decided we would go out to “Old Onslow” the turn off was about 20 kms out of town and then about another 30kms down yet another dirt road. On arrival we finally found a spot for some lunch, which was most welcome because by this time it was about 2.15pm. We had already had a look around the old town which is fast disappearing; the only building that is still standing is the police station and the gaol. There are lots of signs around saying what was there, but all is now gone. We finally found nice spot right on the bank of the Ashburton River to camp for the night, there are lots of other camper here, some have been here for more than a week. Tea tonight consisted of homemade Hamburgers cooked over the fire with spuds carrots and corn. Not bad for out in the bush. Total distance for toady was only 75kms
