First stop was Koh Samui which is the largest and probably most developed and touristy of the islands. We sailed from Langkawi in Malaysia to Satun in Thailand and then got a bus straight up to Krabi on the west coast. Krabi was alot more touristy than places we had been in Malaysia and it was here we got our first experiences of the Thai rainy season! There was a bit of a change in climate up there from the Perhenthian islands and we even had to wear trousers and jumpers in the evening as it got quite cold. We flew into Singapore and spent a couple of days there. Its very clean as you expect as chewing gum is illegal there. Full of lots of shiny tower blocks in the centre and more shops than you know what to do with. It is a shoppers paradise and they even had Marks and Spencers and Topshop! The scenery is out of this world! Last Friday we got the ferry from Wellington to Picton and its a bit notorious as a bad crossing but we had a perfect blue sky day and when you reach the tip of the south island you start cruising down through the Malborough sounds which were amazing.
