Maz and Tom's Adventure
3rd Jun 2012 - 5th Jun 2012
Siem Reap and Angkor.

Today we got a tuk tuk to take us to one of the sites of the Angkor temples called the Rolous Group. These are the oldest of all the temples are are considered inferior to the other bigger and more famous other temples around. However, we found really nice and impressive. This day was good because it was short and gave us an initial taster for the area around and a bit of a background history.
The next day we went to the Bayon which ended up being our favourite - it is situated in what was the centre of their biggest city, Angkor Thom, and is surrounded by trees. Its really cool because of the many four sided faces it has rising from it which you can get right in amongst. After this we went to many other temples - most notably - Ta Phrom (famous for massive tree roots and being in Tomb Raider) and Angkor Wat which although although the biggest and most famous was not my favourite mainly because it was too big and wasn't in as cool a location as many of the other smaller temples and ruins.
The next day we went on what was called the Great Circuit. Again we went to a million zillian temples and took a gazzilian pictures. My favourite temple for that day was Bantay Srei which was really far out but nice, small and had such detail, oh so much detail. On the way back we stopped to watch a lady making palm sugar which was yummy so we bought some. Thus concluding our tours around the Angkor Temples - great time were had by all.

Next: Phnom Penh.
Previous: On way to Cambodia.
