Week 10 -
Week 10 - lull week
Last of the half term weeks this week so there is an anticipation in the air that things will be getting quieter.
However, busy start to the week with a horrendous transfer from Geneva which took a record 5.5 hours thanks to the annecy mardi gras. Also worked Sunday with a chambery transfer that was delayed 2.5 hours ue to a technical transfer. Good news though, the clients on the return trip were from Leeds and they brought me up to date with all the local yorkshire news. that took a max of 5 mins then it was silence for the next 2.5 hours! On arrival back home, I met Clare and Joanne in the dos rond bar where they had been for several hours. Say no more other than we missed the bus and had to walk from Montchavin to les coches on the ski slope in the dark. I hadn't had a drink and was v. Tired.
On the business side, we had our first fee paying French guests staying at the Bilboquet this week; Madam Quiquimpois and her family. Hoping the dishwasher manages to last the week as it is on its last legs.
Big night out Wednesday. It was our "work do." Kathryn and Derek took all the staff out for a Chinese in Bourg st. Maurice. Now I am not known for my liking of Chinese food, but the Chinese buffet was fantastic. I even used the chopsticks, albeit as a toothpick to remove a fragment of satay from my teeth. Good food and good onpany.
Skied 3 days this week steadily wearing in the bear traps that masquerade as my new ski boots. Weather cooler and sunny so very enjoyable.
Ventured down to Moutier on Thursday and ended up buying a new carpet for the lounge. Had a visit from "Jacky" the artisan carpet fitter with a lisp who stayed an hour, spoke non-stop, measured up and quoted all without us understanding a single word.
Clare is looking forward to going home next Sunday and has scheduled a series of activities during her 4 day visit to maximise "chatting" opportunities, starting with a visit to the hairdressers. I hope Lichfield is ready or her!
Snow is holding up pretty well. We had 2 dustings this week and temperatures stayed cool. Hopefully will get another dumping during march.
