Ness & Ian's tour of Australia
19th Jan 2011 - 21st Jan 2011
Margaret River

Wednesday 19th January

After a relaxing start to the day we finally headed off for Margaret River & Kelly's parent's house just outside the town.

Wow is 1 word for the area, it's truly beautiful in every way. On arriving at Kelly's folks we had another lovely surprise as to just how gorgeous their home is & the setting is just stunning. In the early evening whilst sitting chatting in the garden a family of 4 kangaroos just appeared in the park & started eating their tea! It was fantastic to see them so close in the wild.
During the evening bus driver John helped to plan our day's tour round the area.

Thursday 20th Jan.

After breakfast we set off on our trip, 1st stop was Margaret River town & the Fudge Factory.............. we brought a few things but as yet haven't tried anything yet! After a walk through the town we set off for Watershed Winery, now this is a serious winery, although we had previously sampled the wines they make we sampled a few different varieties also & couldn't say we disliked any of them. We of course brought a few bottles!
Next stop was Voyager winery which was impressive to say the least. The wine though didn't live up to the grand setting & we left there disappointed with the tasting.
Next we went to Prevelly Park & enjoyed a walk on the beach & a refreshing drink at the White Elephant beach cafe. Next was a visit to Mouth Beach where we walked along the edge of the river & the ocean within a few yards.

We then headed up the coast to the Duckstein Brewery again in a lovely setting & Ian half enjoyed a beer! Then was the 2nd highlight of our trip, the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. They had a large selection of various chocolates & plenty of free samples that Ian & Lee enjoyed, they had samples of dark, milk & white chocolate tiny buttons.
The shopping basket got heavier & heavier by the time we got to the till!!!!

We took our hosts out for a meal & had a good natter!!

Friday 21st Jan

We said our goodbyes & heartfelt thanks to Elaine & John & set off back to Safety Bay taking the scenic route via, Yallingup, Bunker Bay Meelup Beach, Dunsborough, Busselton, Bunbury & Mandurah.

OMG how amazing are the beaches at Bunker Bay & Meelup???? To amazing for words. In your mind imagine the bluest of blue sea's, the clearest water, the softest sands & there it is right in front of you. PARADISE pure paradise.

At the SCG someone had a banner up with the words " It's better being a convict in paradise than a Pom in England!" I couldn't agree more with this statement.

Back home to our cottage & our last week in Australia. This though fills me with sadness although I miss our families, friends & our darling Crunchie, Australia has been more than we ever could've wished.

Next: All good things
Previous: The last week in our life!
