Sunday afternoon, feelin thoroughly hungover I remembered I had another engagement to get to. One of my Adams students is a dancer, a hip hop dancer, the tpe of thing you see the kids these days doing on subway platforms and the like, (think justin timberlake but far less commercial).

Akio, the student, was having a show tonight and invited Adam and a few of us to go and see it. It was in an underground studio called the blueline lounge and was full of professional hip hop dancers, we (naturally) had VIP passes that got us free entry and backstage access to hobnob with the dancers during and after the show - all part of the glory that is gaijin power!

It was incredible, 4 hours of extraordinarily choreographed groups bouncin around, twistin, shakin, wobblin and pretty much defyin the laws of gravity as far as I could tell! The only problem was in between slots they opened the dancefloor to the audience so everybody else could have a wobble, this was a problem because almost everyone there had obviously been interested in hip hop for some time and it didnt end with the music, they could all drop a move like they belonged on mtv and filled the dancfloor in seconds...

...then there was us...

...there is no way in hell I was gonna embarrass myself by even attemptin to dance in front of that lot! Adam, Karen and I swiftly legged it to the side of the dancefloor and bought another round in an attempt to regain our composure before headin off backstage again to top up our `cool points` we had had just lost!

We also met the owner of the club who (claimed) to be Amsterdams No.1 DJ.

P.S. the link for the photo album of nikko is ready to go, just go back to the diary entry, its at the bottom
