Diary for On the Road again.

First Week

2012-02-04

We have been up and down the Bruce Highway (300km) looking at motorhomes. Seen some fantastic houses in amazing locations. Everyone is really friendly and offering good advice. Some of the ex rental vans have been a bit tatty inside  so I have insisted we look at the ones with nice upholstery. Kev has been checking out the rest of the van.

Spent all day driving round in the brilliant sunshine looking for vans then drove to Surfer's  Paradise for supper. As we arrived the heavens opened and we found the place full of 18-30 clubbers going from club to club, lots of Macdonalds and Burger bars.

Visited Eumundi market to see some wonderful crafts but had to leave quickly when Kevin was considering getting a tattoo. He can't decide whether he is a grey nomad or a silver gypsy as the old travellers are called over here. Getting a bit worried about him, he picked up a free paper for seniors yesterday and he is telling me about all the bargains he has found like 6 tea towels for 6 dollars.

On every beach on the Sunshine State there is a surf club serving good food and drink. We have visited a few but particularly enjoyed the one at Noosa where we watched some brilliant surfing. The current was a bit strong for us to swim at Noosa but have swum locally in the warm sea.  Sorry to hear about your cold weather, we are enjoying a comfortable 30 degrees.
