Ha long bay 20th
Early start and onwards to Hang Lon Bay and to be honest the whole reason we came to Vietnam so today was to be massive. The weather was not too good in the jungle but we were pretty confident that it would clear as we got nearer the ocean. Four hours later this confidence was fading fast and by the time we reached the harbour it was clear the weather wasn’t going to completely clear although it was reasonable. The fact that the tours yesterday had been cancelled could only mean things were improving at least. The boat was great and our cabin was nice with a basic en-suite. We cast off and headed out into the bay. This place is huge with rocks just rising up from the ocean all around us. We sailed for about 2 hours to a location where we would go Kayaking. This was brilliant and Ginge and I followed the guide through a tunnel into a secluded bay where monkeys live in the trees and come down to the kayaks as the people often feed them. Just as we finished and got back to the boat we decided to throw Ngoc, our guide, into the bay. It was freezing but good fun and he did see the funny side. Our dinner was probably the best meal we had eaten throughout our whole time in Vietnam so far, the presentation was outstanding with flower veg, nets over the fish ect, everyone then went on to the deck and continued drinking and chatting, some stayed up all night, the 4 Aussies…again LOL. Fantastic day
