Whitchurch

2012-05-06

Skyped the Cleary household, to discover there has been a couple of frosts. No-one else was ticked today.
We’re at McDonalds having had a good nights sleep and a brisk walk to here, on all accounts the weather is supposed to deteriorate
Well during daylight hours that didn’t happen, just a couple of showers, down to short sleeves and a vest – even that was almost too much. Tonight’s accommodation at The Dodington Lodge Hotel, (it’s very quiet) at Whitchurch, Shropshire is more than adequate, a queen and two single beds – we’ll probably sleep together!!!!! This is cheaper that last night and includes breakfast, ye ha. It is three stories and had large amounts of money spent on it recently, everything is clean and fresh. Today was mostly driving, we thought we were going to be in Shrewsbury, as on the map it looked as big as Hereford – not, a one horse town smaller than Dargaville but with a huge Kings Plant Barn type shop, a Travel Lodge Hotel, Service Station and three fast food outlets. We did stop off at the Kenchester Water Garden, early this morning, expensive plants, but a lovely garden, huge display of tropical fish and a National collection of Water Lilies, shame they were dormant. Glad I don’t have to buy my plants here, one water lily was going to cost anything from ₤12.99 to ₤29.90. The household gardens have improved and it makes the homes looked lived in but am tired of seeing shaggy lawns, they need a number one. Clematis are everywhere, in trees, up buildings, but covered in flowers. I still haven’t mastered getting photographs onto the blog sight, but be patient, I might find someone to help soon. We’ve just had a lovely roast beef dinner five vegetables and a fluffy dumpling (sorry Richard, Bruce wasn’t very impressed).
