We said goodbye to the Delbridges this morning and made our way to Uluru. It was a fantastic few nights catching up with great company and would have loved to travel with them as hey head to warmer weather. Now who's getting jealous? When we turned on to the Lasseter highway, we were excited at what we thought was Uluru, but we were sucked in, it was only Mt Connor. Shannon got the chocolates as she was the first one to spot the rock about half an hour later. We arrived at Yulara about midday. As we were setting up camp, Casey, Rhys and Bridie took off to find Patrick and Emmerson Heaphy (Casey plays footy with Patrick). The kids quickly organized an afternoon of Aboriginal artwork painting with Glenn and the Heaphy's while Shannon caught up with some washing. By the time the kids had finished painting 🎨she had a lot more to do... Casey even had some paint in his hair...We watched a smoke hazed sunset and then caught up with Tim, Chris and the kids after dinner. The kids watched a movie while us adults froze outside⛄. Shannon and Chris were rugged up like little old ladies. It was great catching up with more Mt.Evelynites....
It makes us feels like we're nearly home.. 😢ðŸ˜
Burty's useless fact: Uluru/Ayers Rock is an inselberg which is a prominent isolated residual knob or island mountain..
