Diary for Christina's Life - Living it!

Ibiza Rocks!

2012-07-02 to 2012-07-31

We can’t believe it’s over a month since we sailed into San Antonio Bay, Ibiza – a wonderful night crossing from Calpe, at 1am and 20 miles out there was the most amazing firework display, Elton John’s finale – unfortunately we missed him singing live but arrived into the bay at 6am passing what we now understand to be his amazing super yacht and with music still playing on the beach, club revellers still partying and by 7.30am our friends Carly & Mike on OzzyII welcoming us alongside their mooring with tea and croissant – we’ve made it to The Balearics!!

Since arriving we’ve enjoyed a great month of swimming, snorkelling and sailing and seeing the most fantastic sunrises, sunsets and moon lit skies (loads of photo!) We’ve also spent time anchored for free in the safety of San Antonio bay listening to lots of live music coming from ashore, blended with the booming clubbing beat which we seemed to have got used to as background noise. We’ve at last got quite proficient in the dinghy going ashore, not only to stock up but to enjoy the entertainment; from watching the Olympics in Brit pubs to eating food from authentic Mexican and traditional Spanish restaurants to just sitting in the wild and whacky and very loud Brit bars of the West End where some of the fashions are to be believed but Philip thoroughly enjoying the sights – just fab people watching!!! We’ve also met so many lovely people too; friends and colleagues of Carly and Mike’s have made us so welcome inviting us to bbq’s and family parties. It’s not all been eating & drinking though, we’ve walked, walked and walked taking in so many amazing views of cliffs & calas, bays & beaches – we’ve walked round & round the town too with so many other sights, sounds and smells ….mmm not all of what we’re used to but hey this is the party island of the world so we’re told!!

We also enjoyed a fabulous week at home in the middle of the month too - seeing Jodie appear in Everything in Colour in Wimbledon was awesome, catching up with Pete & Anne in Buckinghamshire, all the family at an all-night music festival (well very late anyway), mum and dad’s for Sunday lunch, 29 holes of golf, a trip to Poole to meet our new Great-nephew Joshua James and a full days gardening, we were ready to get back to Amy for a rest!!

We’ve now got until end of October to enjoy Ibiza and Formentera by sea and by land and hopefully more stories to tell and photos to share in our next blog next month!
