In Burlington, we have reached the most northern point of our Tour , because from now on, we have to think of returning back towards the renting station of my brave (but with 6 years on its shoulders and about 148’000 miles on the meter a bit over aged) little camper and therefore, we head back south today and cover approx. 130 miles. Once again, we enjoy perfect weather conditions with bright sunshine and therefore, we decide not to use the highways, but travel mostly on smaller country streets following the Green Mountain National Forest, although the road conditions, as reported before, often remind us of a trip in our wash tumbler at home. But as compensation, we are rewarded once again with a fantastic firework of colours. It is amazing, that compared to our trip up north just some days ago, the landscape in the south also is glowing in all colours by now.. In Dorset close to Manchester, Vermont, we stop for our night’s rest.
In Burlington haben wir den nördlichsten Punkt unserer Rundreise erreicht, denn nun müssen wir bereits wieder an die Rückkehr Richtung Abgabeort meines braven (aber mit 6 Jahren auf dem Buckel und rund 148‘000 Meilen auf dem Tacho doch schon merklich in die Jahre gekommenen) Camperlis denken und so legen wir heute rund 200 km Richtung Süden zurück. Wieder geniessen wir strahlendes Wetter und entschliessen uns daher, die Highways auszulassen und möglichst auf Landstrassen entlang des Green Mountain National Forest unterwegs zu sein, obwohl der Strassenzustand wie früher beschrieben öfters an die Reise im hauseigenen Tumbler erinnert. Dafür werden wir nochmals mit fantastischen Farbspielen belohnt. Es ist erstaunlich, wie die Wälder seit unserer Fahrt nach Norden vor ein paar Tagen nun auch gegen Süden in allen Farben leuchten.
