Day 11

9pm   979nm to go.

Well first off a big Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there, have a great day, especially my Dad.
I hope you have a fantastic day, and I'm sorry I can't be there with you, I love you heaps Dad. xxx

Today was pretty much the same as the rest of the days, although we managed to get The Rabbit out with no rips this time, which was nice.

In the early hours of the afternoon, when The Captain was asleep, and I was on watch, I noticed something on the Horizon.

It looked at first like two Islands, of course, panic pants here, almost has a heart attack and dives for the chart plotter to zoom in and see what we have missed on here, we usually have a really good idea of whats around us as we really don't want to run into anything, out here.

So I zoom in and there is nothing, ok land ruled out, I check the Radar again and it's showing only one little spot on here but I can see two things out there and they look bigger than what is showing on the radar.

So I sit and wait for awhile and keep an eagle eye on it, with my trusty binoculars, for about an hour.
By this time it's about 4 nm away and still not any clearer on what it is.

So I wake The Captain, I really hate doing this as our sleep is so precious, but I was worried.

He gets up has a look through the Binoculars and is as puzzled as me.
So we both sit we watch we wait.

As it comes closer it appears to be two vessels, one is tied to the other and they are on anchor.
Now there must be a shelf or something out there as we are in around 5900 meters  of water.

For the record I'm am writing down the position just in case. 12° 47'S. 113° 17'E.

Now although we have seen a lot of strange vessels out here, these two look like they belong in a old boat grave yard, they did not look very seaworthy at all, on the other hand we have seen a lot of boats around that I would never go out in the ocean in them ever.

Now they could of been just fishing vessels, although they did not look like it, or maybe they were boat people, we really have no idea,  I was a bit tempted to go closer and see, but you just never know, so we decided to just keep on going, I so hope they were all right and nothing was wrong, but it's just not worth the risk, it's not like there is anyone out here to come to our rescue, if things go pear shape.

So that little mystery will just have to stay a mystery.

We also had a larger fishing vessel, near us and at one stage it looked like it was heading in our direction, as it was now dark, I was once again a bit concerned, but The Captain was still awake so we just kept a close watch on it, it did come within a nautical mile of us, but just went around us and off in a different direction.

Well tomorrow is another day.
