Day 9

696nm to go

Well today was a special day, today we saw a humpback whale.
I always am on the lookout for whales, no mater where we are, but this trip we had been told that there is a lot around, yeah it was starting to sound the same about this trip being really rough and huge winds, storms etc. we had seen none until today.

I was sitting here in my usual position looking out across  the ocean, when I saw this massive grey hump surface followed buy a jet of water at least ten feet into the air.

Well I jumped up so quick and flew over to The Captains side, we both did a mad scramble to unzip the covers and roll them up so we could have a better look.

Three times it surfaced and The Captain missed each one....haha all he saw was the jet of water.

He was quite put out about the whole thing, I told him he needs to look out more often as I am always scanning the ocean for anything a bit different.

This guy was about two boat lengths away from us, so I can't understand how he could miss it.
They are such beautiful creatures and big, why anyone would want to hurt them, is beyond me.

Just seeing that one whale has made this whole trip worthwhile, they are just amazing.
I so hope we get to see more in the next few days.

Well tomorrow is another day.
