Day 78-August 11, 2016-Still in Illinois
Not as humid today, still up to 88 but overcast
Went to Benedict’s LaStrata for brunch in downtown Crystal Lake with Jim today. A nice bistro/café type breakfast and lunch place. Kristen is the hostess there and we got some good advice as to what to order. The menu is intense, very unique items like raspberry lemon zest, orange or blueberry pancakes, stratas, crepes, frittatas, skillets, scrambles, benedicts, etc. etc. and everything is made fresh. Hard to make a decision when you want to try one of each. We started with beignets that rivaled those we had in New Orleans-bigger but hot and delicious. Jim and Harry had the seafood omelet and I had the veggie quiche-everything was great. Went back to Jim’s house and he showed us all the renovations and updates he’s been making on it, he’s been doing a lot of work. Had a game of Phase 10 (Harry won) and then went to Lou Malnati’s for Chicago deep dish pizza. Again, a great meal. Back to the RV to pack up and get ready to move on tomorrow. It was nice to just relax and not do much today.
