Day 85-August 18, 2016-To Florida

Drove 393 miles in 7-1/4 hours.

Hot and Humid, 98 again.

We’re really moving on now.  This is the longest and farthest we’ve driven the whole trip.  The closer to home we get the quicker we want to get there.  As soon as we got on I-75 this morning we crossed into Georgia.  I started looking for campgrounds south of Atlanta figuring that’s how far we would get today.  But we got to Atlanta around noon, six lanes of crazy drivers all in a rush.  Thought it would be worse, actually, but we got through fairly quickly.  Stopped for lunch and gas in Perry, south of Macon, which is where I thought we might stay but it’s really early so we kept on going.  Finished the book on tape which I was sure would end differently so the twist at the end was nice.  It was a busy truck day on I-75 the whole day, trucks, trucks, trucks.  Got to the Florida/Georgia line and stopped at a campground in Lake City, a few miles into Florida about 5:00.  Not a bad campground for being right off the interstate, it has trees, grass and cabins for rent.  And quick wi-fi, which is hard to come by at campgrounds. They also have a gas station up front and we get a 5 cent discount but the gas is higher than usual.  Should be an easy ride home tomorrow.
