Day 11-July 16, 2017-Council Bluffs, Iowa

Drove 186 miles in 4 hours

Up to 97 and humid today, so much for the “quite pleasant” day we had yesterday.

Boring drive up I-29 still staying in Missouri until the last ten miles when we got into Iowa.  Corn, corn and more corn.  I used to the time to make some reservations for the next few days.  Nice to be able to do that on the road so I can relax when we get to the campground.  We’re staying at Bluffs Run RV in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  It’s actually in the back of Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino.  Just water and electric hook-ups and no shade.  They have showers and a laundry in the middle of the parking lot.  A few treea and picnic tables behind the RV sites.  We’ve been here before and I remember how finding the RV registration was a nightmare.  The signs are still very misleading and on top of that they moved it last year to the casino building.  Finally found it, got checked in and set up.  The sites are long but narrow so I asked not to be put next to another RV.  They’re not full so there was no problem with that.  They give you an extra assigned spot for your car which is nice, you don’t have to squeeze it in next to the RV. It’s just about the only RV spot near Omaha (only 4 miles away) and it’s convenient to Council Bluffs and, of course, the casinos.  Relaxed for a bit and watched quite a few other RVs pull in and set up.  Hopefully they won’t need the sites on either side of us, our slides just about reach into them.  If Kansas City means barbeque then Omaha must mean…..STEAK! So we found a nice steak house and had a great dinner.  Back to the casino to donate a few more dollars.  Actually, Harry won, me-not.
