Day 38-August 12, 2017-Deming, NM day 2

Sunny and warm, but comfortable 90.  Every night a nice breeze blows through.

Rained most of the night which cooled things down. We had all the windows open all night.  Lazy day today, made some phone calls and caught up on a few things.  Looked at maps and charted a course again.  We’ll see how long we stick to this plan.  Thought about doing laundry then thought better of it.  After lunch we went for a drive through Deming, not much to see, a quiet little town.  Quieter than we thought it would be on a Saturday afternoon.  Came back to the campground, sat outside and read.  It’s a beautiful day, quiet, sunny and peaceful, just the tweeting  of the birds, mostly doves.  As we were eating dinner we saw a black cloud forming and a beautiful rainbow and it starting getting really windy.  Went outside to take some pictures (along with a few other campers) and we noticed that the black clouds were encircling us.  They were all around, lightning coming from all sides and the clouds getting blacker and blacker.  One local said he heard on the radio we were supposed to get 75 MPH winds and hail.  It’s so mesmerizing  and beautiful.  We finally went in when it got really close.  Started to hail as soon as we got in for about 2 minutes, then some thunder, lightning and rain for about an hour….that was it, sort of a let down.   Taking off again tomorrow.
