Days 3-5-Sept. 8-10, 2017-Still Fun and Games

Wonderful weather again, sunny, 78

It’s still all fun and games for me and Harry.  Yesterday we met a couple at a gas station from Mount Dora who also have a home here.  They invited us to a dinner party there tonight but we already have tickets for the ball game.  They told us about the TVA pumped storage unit up Raccoon Mountain which was a beautiful drive, magnificent view and a great day.  We went to dinner at a brewhouse in town and then to the game to watch the Lookouts lose to the Montgomery Biscuits 2-0.  The town is busy, busy, busy.  The Ironman 70.3 world championship is  being held here this week-end and the streets are bustling with bikers and runners.  Very active city.  Today we went to the farmer’s market held at the university football stadium, both inside and inside craft booths, food, every color pepper imaginable (even purple), tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes and food and music.  We then took a drive out of town, past the campground to Look Out Winery and pizza.  Carlos (aka, Chuck) is from Naples and makes the best pizza ever.  He makes the wine too, and the Italian wines are great.  They’re high on a bluff where you can see Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.  Great afternoon.  Met people from Beaufort, SC who are also escaping the storm.  We were treated like family and had a great conversation with the owners.  Wonderful afternoon.  Came back to the campground and took a walk around.  Stopped at the office and pet the kittens for a while who are getting friendlier and are now jumping into our laps.  And the weather is incredible.  80, sunny, gorgeous.  We have tickets for the last game of the playoffs tonight.  They are tied 2-2 in a best of 5 series.  The winner is the co-champion.  The season will not be finished because the other 2 teams in contention are from Florida and they’ve been cancelled.  Life doesn’t get better than this.

So, for us it’s still fun.  But our minds are always on our friends and loved ones in Florida where it is not fun .  They’ve done all they can and are now just waiting, waiting, waiting.  We can only hope and pray they will all be okay through all of this.  We just go an e-mail from the sheriff in our county saying Irma is supposed to hit our county about 6-8 PM tonight.I’ll keep you updated as things change…..I’m sure they will change dramatically tomorrow.
