The Busy Mom's Kitchen: How To Make A Simple Breakfast Casserole

2017-09-29

I just spent the last nine days holed up in a vacation home deep in the mountains. Of course, the place wasn't exactly rustic and had all the comforts of home like a kitchen and several bathrooms. That's my kind of wilderness experience! As my experiment progressed, I added more foods that had the same effect. There are multitudes of dishes that are hot, spicy and flavorful: Kung pao chicken, curry, spicy ginger chicken, hot sausage stew, which is great on the grill by the way, all kinds of Mexican and Thai foods. On occasion, I would sprinkle a little cayenne pepper on grilled vegetables. What I found is it really doesn't take much to produce the desired result. On a recent customer appreciation day, droves of people helped themselves to 50 cents sliders during lunch sausage stew calories. The crew worked fast to prepare the burgers on the hot grill. The orders were so plentiful they scooped dozen of the hot burgers in cardboard carryout boxes. Now we are rolling into the early afternoon and some of my waffles or pancakes might sound real good about now. Then a little bit later maybe something more hearty, like a past recipe of biscuits and gravy, Huevos Rancheros or even a nice Blackened Filet of beef Benedict, sounds real good about now. If you want to eat something a little bit healthier than don't forget my crustless slow cooker sausage stew recipe from an earlier article. If you are feeling a little "sexy" today, then my other Benedict style breakfast... "Eggs Orleans", just might be in order for you!I always find plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit on sale depending on what is in season, so those are the ones I eat that week. The same goes for canned goods slow cooker sausage casserole where you can buy extras for later meals. You save money buying the store brand, which is usually the same product. Many people, though, don't like having cereal in the mornings. The good news is that there are plenty of other quick and healthy recipes that you can use for a great breakfast. If cold cereal isn't your thing, consider warm oatmeal or even cream of wheat for breakfast. Making your own oatmeal from scratch doesn't take much more time than using "instant", flavored oatmeal packets - and it is much cheaper and healthier. Add some berries and milk and you have a wonderfully tasty breakfast that doesn't take too much time to make.If you just want to do something a little different-then just do it. Nothing is stopping you but your own brain. It is telling you that you absolutely need instructions on how to do something that for years was improvised. Our grandparents certainly didn't use a recipe, and if they didn't, it wasn't nearly as exact as ours.
