I went hunting with my husband a few times since we have been married. Mind you, my choice of shooting was using a video camera. As far as cooking, what was shot depends on the animal. We tried cooking squirrel once, and it won't ever happen again. The same goes for rabbit. He found that cleaning the squirrels and rabbits really wasn't worth the time spent skinning and gutting these small animals.La Crema Pinot Noir has strawberry, raspberry, strawberry, and red cherry fruit flavors making this wine light enough to drink on its own, lightly chilled. The smoothness of the wines' fruity flavors helps make it an excellent match for richer flavors in the foods discussed earlier. The acidity of the La Crema Pinot Noir is refreshing, so this allows it to take on richer flavors as well. In addition to roast turkey and meaty fish, La Crema Pinot Noir is also the perfect companion for slow cooker duck a l'orange. Something to consider if duck is on your menu this Thanksgiving!A few sips told me this is a rough-tasting wine. You know it's there and won't want to pair it with a poached white fish with herbs. I first tried this Shiraz with a slow-cooked beef stew and soft wheat kernels, accompanied by a commercial potato salad and a homemade tomato and cucumber salad. The wine was mouth filling and fairly long, but not subtle or complex. I tasted plums and black cherries. Not surprisingly this wine had no problem handling harissa, a very spicy Tunisian pepper sauce. We tried a few of the appetizers and among these, my favorite was the Escargots in Puff Pastry with Cognac and Garlic Cream Sauce. The puff pastry was buttery, flaky and very good and it was offset well by the cream sauce. It went very well with the champagne, but then, most things do. We sampled the crab cakes as well, and while good, they did not match the excellence of the escargots. For the entree, I ordered the pan roasted how to cook duck & Leg confit, I asked for it rare and unfortunately it was a little too rare for my taste, but this was just a minor thing. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his Lobster & Seafood Fricassee and found it very fresh and tasty. He also sampled the freshly farmed abalone and found it thick and perfect.Crock pot queso dip -- No Super Bowl party is complete without a classic queso or cheese dip recipe, and it's especially important this year to any Packers fans who'll be watching.
