so...yes...going back to central america in november....and going overland from costa rica to guatemala, through el salvador, nicaragua and honduras. amazingly it has been 26 years since i visited guatemala, but it has always stuck in my mind as one of the most beautiful and interesting places ive ever been. and also been to costa rica...and even nicaragua, briefly, when i went to the most hilarious border post ever, on the river, with young men who were quite obviously not expecting a boat load of 10 tourists to need their passports stamped!
anyway....i did the most common mistake in the history of flight booking....i booked a flight to the wrong san jose.

san jose california is SJC san jose international CA
FUCK ME DEAD...I BOOKED SJC NOT SJO!
booked it wednesday...but didnt notice till thursday night....you only have 24 hours to cancel...was already too late.
got in touch with the centre i booked it with...they told me that i couldnt change airport...but i could change dates, given that i was flying to somewhere 4000 miles out of my way, for the paltry sum of £300!
then i would have to stay in a hotel in the wrong san jose, and fly down in the morning for another £270 or so...given that the flight only cost me £600...was just thinking that i should cancel the whole thing, accept the loss, and start from scratch.
then....well, i remembered i actually had a really good friend who worked for BA!
mel...she has saved my life, my money, and my sanity! she has booked me onto the right san jose!!!!
after this...never again will i go to any other fucking san jose!!!!
