Day 77-June 5, 2018-RAIN! To Perry, FL

Drove 269 miles in 5-1/2 hours.

Rain and 65 when we left and most of the day, up to 86 in Perry at 4PM, still some clouds but the rain stopped

We had another bird serenading us again last night.  At 12:30 we put the AC up so we wouldn’t be able to hear him.  This is ironic.  Last night we were talking about how we had very little rain the eleven weeks we’ve been gone and never had to travel in rain.  And then, as we’re about to enter the “Sunshine State” we wake up to rain.  And not just rain, Florida rain, the kind where it’s difficult to see.  With thunder and lightning.  Less than 20 minutes after we left we were in Florida, although we couldn’t read the “Welcome to Florida, the Sunshine State” sign because of the downpour.  Very windy over the Escombe Bay Bridge in Pensacola.  And rainy.  Stopped for lunch at a rest area on I-10 and the rain stopped for a while, then drizzled the rest of the way to the campground.  We lost an hour when we crossed into the Eastern Time Zone but still got to the campground about 3:30.  We’re on route 19 now, the road we’ll take all the way to Homosassa.  Campground is empty, snowbirds have all gone home.
