West Coast Story
18th Jul 2012 - Australia for the Birthdays...
Yes, I am Alive and Well - in Sydney

Hi All, I am feeling very remiss for not updating my blog, however, I am never really sure that I have that much to say. Am still in freezing cold Sydney and enjoying being at home with Jen and Chris. I am having an absolute ball seeing patients and the practice is growing like topsy. I have added a Friday afternoon to my Monday and am also seeing patients on Tuesdays for additional emergency appointments. Then, on top of that, I have inpatients as well, so pretty busy!! I go to the hospital to see one patient and come away after seeing 7!! There is clearly a need for the pain and symptom control as patients are being referred as I sit in the Clinic! And they are so wonderfully grateful, it is an absolute pleasure - I am really, REALLY, enjoying it all. It really is a fabulous arrangement as I can see the inpatients at my own leisure and can plan my days according to the multiple competing needs. I am sure that once I get things under control, I can work this in to a reasonably regular routine. In between, am doing telecons back to the US for ECOG, picking up new clients for consultancy projects, and the Australian Cancer Council Innovations Committee started last week with an interesting teleconference too. So, busy, busy, busy with lots of balls in the air, that is for sure......Had some lovely days catching up with friends and am loving being at home in my Lindfield base. Chris brought home a new kitten last week, so we are all getting used to that - it is soooo frightened and it is hard to catch to even give a cuddle or feed - our other cat still has not met it, as we are waiting until it comes out from its hiding place under his lounge!! I have never seen a kitten so skittish, and I am hoping that it all works out OK. Have had some visitors staying from San Francisco and am still wrestling with some medical issues of my own. Am planning a weekend trip to trace my ancesters in the Bulahdelah, Stroud area with my aunt in the next few weeks too. We are going to drive up, stay the night, and visit some of the family places - sadly including Maitland Gaol, but that is definitely an unexpected Other Story. I will be heading back to the US in August and hoping that at that time, I can take in some sun in my favourite place - Turks - as I have to be on the East Coast again. That is it in a nutshell...... Love Deb
