West Coast Story
24th Feb 2010 - 26th Feb 2010 - Back to the U S of A!!!
Scottsdale and the Phoenix PGA Golf Open

THe AACR Round Table was held in Scottsdale, and happened to be at the same time as the Phoenix PGA Golf Tournament.  What fun that was!!  The Conference Center overlooked the 5th tee, so our coffee and lunch breaks were long and very entertaining as we watched the golfers come through.  We had our own private gallery!!  I think we surprised the golfers a bit as when they looked up, instead of seeing the crowd in shorts and tee-shirts, there we all were in our suits!!  I really needed this break as I had been 'on the go' from the time that I arrived in San Francisco, so I simply enjoyed the fact that there was sun and fresh air.  I have not been a gold fan at all up until now, but as we watched the hole being played, I started to really enjoy it and looked forward to each and every break.  And, of course, I love the cactus and the red earth of Scottsdale, which is an absolute pleasure - the scenery everywhere you look - and the funny little animals that dart in and out.  At one stage, I saw what I thought was a rat, but it turned out to be a little squirrel type animal, playing on the Golf Green with the rabbits that also seem to abound.  A wonderful respite in an otherwise pretty crazy life at the moment.
