SPJ World Tour, 6 Continents,

Hello to all you poor old soles who are stuck looking at the dreary English Weather, or stuck in whatever rut you're in!So far I have been living my life in reverse and don't intend to change just yet. I'm opting for living my life to the full and fulfilling my ambitions as much as I can and living each day as if it were my last; as I've only got one shot at it!This site is dedicated to my beautiful daughter, whom I am more proud of than she'll ever know! Also to my upbringing to give me the outlook of regretting the things I have done, not the things I haven't!As I looked at all the countries I wanted to visit, my trip became longer, and longer and longer. A 3-6 month trip has now developed into as long as it takes to see what I want to see.I hope you will follow me around the world, and hopefully I will share and inspire you to visit places you have always dreamed of visiting. For those of you who have said "I wish I was doing what you're doing", I will offer you one piece of advise - JUST DO IT!Please post messages, as I will appreciate the company and knowing what's going on in a 'normal working day' as I'm going alone!!The site is subject to grammatical and in some instances, downright dreadful faux pars, to which I am not liable for. This is due to the time and effort required which goes into a comprehensive blog (and perhaps book one day). Therefore, after many hours of typing, with no chance to proof read; and in some instances, can't even run a spell check - my fluid, witty and informative writing skills may be subject to the odd floor..............sorry, flaw!

Where's Sarah?

Hhhhmmmmm, so who thought Sarah had been abducted en-route? Fraid Sarah did a cliche; which she said she'd never do, but then again she also says 'never say never'. She reached Thailand and hated Bangkok and Phuket with a passion, was close to leaving never to return when she stumbled across Phi Phi - after a trip around Cambodia and Laos, she returned for a further 4 months to discover who she wa...

Laos - The Land of Lovely People & Beauty (Cont'd)

The Gibbon ExperienceThis is fast becoming one of Laos not so best kept secrets. Set up two years ago by Geoff, a French man, the Gibbon Experience is an alternative way to get around the jungle, and to your tree house accommodation. He has installed a network of zip wires in the jungle canopy, which you use to move across valleys and to get to your bed for the night. Many of these wires are ...

Laos - The Land of Lovely People & Beauty (Cont'd)

Luang PrabangI had to do a double take when we arrived in Luang Prabang as I thought we had taken a wrong turn and ended up in a provincial French village! Were we really still in Laos? The architecture didnt disappoint, and there is an abundance of Wats along with the resident monks. Due to the large contingency of monks, there is a curfew of midnight, so as not to disturb too much of their...

Laos - The Land of Lovely People & Beauty (Cont'd)

Phonsavan The Plain of Jars.On the bus I met with my next travelling mates, Tamara, Jewish Canadian, and Margrete, Norwegian now at home in South East London. I was to travel with both of them until the border crossing in Thailand, and then with just Margrete until my Muay Thai training session at Chiang Mai Phonsavan is not the most exciting place, but what it does have to offer is stun...

Laos - The Land of Lovely People & Beauty (Cont'd)

Vang ViengClimbing down from my moral soap box, we then headed back towards Pakse for a final massage before jumping on the eight thirty night bus to Vientiane. We arrived at 05.30 and by 07.30, were on the local bus for another six to seven hours to Vang Vieng. We had a very old lady on our bus, who after several hours screamed something at the bus driver. We came to a grinding halt and she, ...

Laos - The Land of Lovely People & Beauty

Don Det to PakseWe arrived at Don Det in the afternoon, found a riverside bungalow at an extortionate $1 per night! However, let me elaborate. The room consisted of a bed and mosquito net no lighting, as the island ran off generators from six till ten pm, hence no need for lights and a balcony with a hammock with views over the Mekong. We spent a very chilled out evening, and finished the ni...

Its a Holiday in Cambodia. Beauty & the Beast

Phenom PengIm now back into travelling mode after my two week break on Koh Phi Phi. So straight into booking a tour of the S-21/Toul Sleng prison and the Killing Fields, organising my Laos visa and booking a boat up the Tonlé Sap to Siem Reap, home to Angkor Wat.I have a vague recollection of the Cambodian civil war, but my memory was blurred with the starving Africans, so my visit to Ph...

Its a Holiday in Cambodia. Beauty & the Beast (cont'd)

Angkor WatNow that the beast of Cambodia has been done, it was off to the beauty of the Wats of Angkor in Siem Ream. See there is method to my madness for going to Phnom Penh first I wanted to get the horrible bit out of the way first so that I could leave with happy, fluffy memories of my Holiday in Cambodia.Tonlé Sap became so wide in some parts that, with its blue waters, could ...

Thailand - numero uno visit

Arrive at Bangkoks new super duper all whistles and bells airport to discover that the staff werent quite as efficient and in line as the infrastructure. I eventually gave up trying to get any sense out of them with regards to getting to Phuket, so hopped in a cab with Fred to the infamous Kho San Road. A couple of hours shopping here was more than enough for me, before I jumped on the eighteen ...

Final days and thoughts - Goodbye Vietnam!

Met up with Mr Fred, and was SO relieved to see him after my ordeal with bunny boiling freak boy! I luckily got there at the right time as he had become very concerned about me and was about to go to the British Consul to send out a search party for me. I was taken with Saigon at all, especially the parents (pimps or whatever) of kids as young as three sent to try and sell chewing gum and handkerc...
