Raindrops keep falling on my head - encore

Shorter coach journey to Byron Bay which is a tiny town with a population of around 5000 that is apparently full of hippies. Can't say we seen many hippies but an icredible amount of backpapers and travel agencies selling backpapers various trips and excursions.First night in Byron involved a trip across the street to Cheeky Monkey's Party Bar and Restaurant. I think you can guess by the nam...

Coffs Harbour

We arrived in Coffs after a long 7 hour coach journey at around 11.30pm. Since we arrived so late we couldn't get picked up by the hostel but we also couldn't find a taxi either. Ended up walking a few kilometres carrying our rucksacks but I suppose the exercise will do us all good (some more than others!).Our hostel has turned out to be our favourite one we've ever stayed in. Quite small a...

The Toon Down Under

We spent one night in Newcaslte which is just North of Sydney. There isn't much there but the only reason we stopped there was just so a certain Geordie member of the group could say he'd been and take some photos of a street named after him. Although we didn't find said street we did discover a Tyrrell Towers which more than made up for it.The only activities involved watching Australia mak...

Glebe

We decided we would leave the hustle and bustle of central Sydney and travelled to a suberb called Glebe. The place is a sort of hippy/yuppy place with lots of markets, second hand stores and alternative medicine shops etc. We stayed in a hostel that was not really a hostel but more long term accomodation, it was ok. We all had to stay in separate rooms and slept on sofa beds. They were doubles th...

Wooloomooloo

This is the place we stopped in. It had far too many o's for it to be natural but it was nice. The weather had improved a bit, seemingly George brought it with him from Venice beach, CA. The week was nice as George was with us and we had not seen him for ages about 10months!We did lots of tourist things and drank lots of very cheap wine... We saw the sites of Sydney, which there are too many t...

Where is George?

This was the question of the day. George was due to arrive at about 11am on this day from America so we dedicated the day to him. It was pouring down with rain, so it was a good day to dedicate to waiting for him.We went to wait for him at the train station we told him to arrive at from the airport from about 12pm unitl 2pm, he did not show. This was something both Phill and Lee found very odd...

Sydney

The hostel was called the Harbour City Hotel and was pleasant, clean and with friendly staff. All the signs for a good stay. We went for a walk to the harbour to see the infamous bridge and Opera house and the other affiliated tourist things. The walk was brief due to the good location of our hostel and through the Botanical gardens which made it very pleasurable, although I am sure it would b...

Down Under

Phill and Lee changed their flights from Hong Kong to Sydney and flew a few days early. In Hong Kong nothing much happend. They went to a couple of markets and sent some things back to the Uk so the story will continue on departure date. The two travellers awoke at 5am to get ready as they had to reach the airport for before 7am. They got packed and ready to leave. Phillip Tyrrell some how mana...

The Fog

I think we can safely fit roughly one week into a single diary entry, and this is not becasue I cannot be bothered to fill it in. We had a very busy week of site seeing ahead of us before flying to the land down under. We went to a number of places but the highlights have to be the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau island and the trip on the peak tram to Victoria peak for a 500m view of Hong Kong and ...

The Mickey Mouse club

Today was hot and sunny, something of a strange one for Hong Kong. We had already decided to go to Disney Land today so no sunbathing or site seeing was to be done. We got the train there and on the final leg you get a Disney train complete with Mickey Mouse windows and statues inside, all very tacky, sorry Disney fans.Lee had never been to a Disney and Phill has been to all of them bar Japan ...
