Day 93 Hot & sunny again – really hot and really sunny (37degrees). Well we really struck lucky in the end – got to a campsite a couple of hundred metres from the sea, sandwiched between the sea and Lago di Lesina. Only one other pitch occupied so we found a nice shady pitch and settled in. We’ve got wi-fi to catch up with e-mails & such, and a good TV picture to watch the footy. What’s more, Tirril is allowed on the beach (a lot of the sites around here don’t even accept dogs, let alone allow them on the beach). So we took him down to the (lovely sandy beach) after our arrival cup of tea, and the sea was really warm. I’m not a great one for swimming, but can’t wait to get back here tomorrow morning to have a dip with Tirril!! Had a scenic drive this morning over to the coast and found a really nice picnic spot next to a lake where Tirril could cool down with a dip (temperature has been up into the 30’s today). Carried on and drove down the coast to check out a few coastal campsites – not very impressed – either no dogs allowed, or pitches really crammed in amongst a lot of static caravans. Persistence paid off though, when we arrived here. Now here’s a first – our own personal loo/shower cubicle. For those of you who are seasoned campers, you’ll know the initial apprehension arriving at a site, wondering what the ‘facilities’ block is going to be like – is it clean? How are the showers? – are they dribblers or drenchers? Is the water hot, tepid or just plain cold? Is there space to luxuriate in, or are you confined into a small corner with the dreaded clinging, plastic curtain? Are there enough hooks to hang your clothes? (And on the continent – are the toilets sitters or squatters?) Is loo paper provided? etc etc etc. Anyway – here we are given a key to our very own allotted toilet/shower cubicle for the duration of our visit so we can keep all our toiletries there without lugging them to and fro every time. And it’s so close, it’s virtually like an en-suite – that’s camping luxury for you. But enough toilet talk – had a relaxing evening enjoying the warm evening and watching the footy. Fortunately the TV is on a folding bracket so we can watch it while sat outside – not that we do a lot of watching – it’s only for the football really. I think we might stay here another day!
