Bear-Bare

It feels like we've been away for months. When I think back to when we left, it does seem like ages ago.

We've been super busy the last few days. Sleep? What is that? I so need my 8 hours sleep a night but here we are burning the candle at both ends! We 're young, we can survive, for 2 weeks.

Saturday saw the progression of the second house. We've got the hang of it now and are taking on our roles well and all chipping in. Brenda and the Pastor are great company and sometimes we're joined by the youth from the church who are a joy to be around.

Often we have to go to the lumber yard for building supplies and the check out counter girls can see the white (rich) boys coming a mile away. In the Philippines minimum wage is just 420 pesos a day, converted that is £6. The Filipinos are shocked when I told them that would be our hourly rate back home! I did try and explain that everything else is dearer in Scotland too, but once they'd heard the first part that was it!

Stuart is affectionately known as "Teddy Bear" and it means the same in English as it does in Filippino. Thankfully none of the rest of us have developed nick names, but we were all giving ourselves bear names as a joke later on... Jamie-Bear Grylls, Zara&Katie- Bear naked ladies ( that's a music group for those out of the know) and Callum- The Bear necessities!

Manila traffic is horrendous. Traffic lights? What are they? Instead a random man stands in the middle of the crossroads and if you want past he'll stop the traffic for you, providing you grace his hand with a few coppers. Nuts!

With Love
