Diary for Peter and Terry's Adventures

A Break from the Break

2014-02-03 to 2014-02-23

This week finds us in St. Croix, USVI. An early flight on Feb 17 to Miami, a long layover, and another flight direct to St. Croix, where Joe was waiting to pick us up. We've been here a week allmost, and will be heading back to La Antigua Guatemala on Tuesday.
The week has been busy with lots of eating out, Peter playing duplicate bridge three times, and visiting with friends. It has been two years since we last visited, and yet all seems very familiar. (We have been regular visitors since 2005, so we do know our way around, and know many people in the bridge club and at the Ha'Penny Beach Club.)
We are including a few photos of our hosts' home, and I am sure they are repeats from previous years. (Still waiting for Greg's photos of Guate.)
The weather is the usual Caribbean fare: sunny days with puffy clouds, easterly winds at 10-20 knots, and to occasional torrential downpour. The latter is welcome, as we have seen only 3 minutes of light rain in Guatemala since the start of December. We are, of course, in shorts for the first time this winter, as it is generally cooler in Guatemala and the custom doesn't include shorts.
We have been watching the weather back home, and see storm after storm. Hoping that at least one of the groundhogs was right, and that by the end of March things will have settled down somewhat.
