Day 46-August 20, 2017-To Biloxi, Boomtown Casino

Drove 212 miles in 5 hours

Hot and humid but better than yesterday, only 95

We got an early start but wasted an hour going to a Wal-Mart that was about 5 miles off the interstate.  Most of the trip was on the deplorable roads over bridge after bridge after bridge.  Lots of water down here, too much, lots of flooding.  There are streams, rivers, lakes and swamps all swollen and muddy from the recent rains.  Fishermen and boaters are out in force on all the waterways.  Passed a couple of workers on the other side of I-10 doing some maintenance on a bridge which caused a 6-1/2 mile backup of traffic.  Glad we’re going the other way, it looked like they’d be there quite a while.  Drove over the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge and then on to I-12 north of Lake Ponchartrain.  Stopped at a shady parking lot for lunch then back to I-10 to Biloxi.  Started a new book on tape which, five chapters in, is really interesting.  Got to Biloxi about 3:30 and set up.  The Boomtown RV park is associated with the Boomtown Casino across the street.  Nice set up, pull in, pick a site, call themand let them know which site we’re in.  Nice pull through sites, full hook-ups, security gate and fence. We picked a site under a big shade tree.  Not too many people here, only about 5 other RVs.  There’s a shuttle to the casino.  It’s walkable and we walked last year when we were here but it’s too hot this year.  Only waited a few minutes for security to pick us up in their van. This was our last shot to win big at a casino this year and it didn’t happen. Only stayed less than an hour, Harry won, I didn’t, so we left while we were ahead.  We’re only here overnight, back on the road tomorrow.
