Day 47-August 21, 2017-To Quincy, FL and the Eclipse that wasn't

Day 47-August 21, 2017-To Quincy, FL and no eclipse for us

Drove 266 miles in 5-1/4 hours.

Hot, humid, Florida 94

Drove over more bridges and through the tunnel in Mobile, AL to Florida.  Listened to the book on tape.  Saw a few overhead signs that read ”Turn headlights on during the Eclipse”, not something you see every day.  Pulled into a rest area for lunch during a horrible thunder and lightning storm with the kind of Florida rain where you can’t see in front of you. Hoped it would pass before the eclipse got to us.  People out west have been sending me beautiful pictures of the eclipse and all we have is dense clouds and rain.  Really disappointed that we got no eclipse at all. We lost an hour when we entered Eastern Time Zone and got to the campground in Quincy, FL about 4PM.  Not much of a campground, it’s behind a Marathon gas station.  Basically a grassy field with hook-ups but it serves our purpose.  Easy on and off of I-10, level sites.  There are only 2 other RVs here, a motor home and a truck camper with a flat tire.  Doubt anybody’s in there.  So it should be quiet tonight.  This is our last night on the road, home tomorrow…..Woo-Hoo!!!
