2018-05-30

This past Saturday, the 9th of October, there was an invasion of sorts in Long Beach. It was the LB Street Food Fest, which featured 28 of Southern California's top Gourmet Food Trucks. Aside from the uncharacteristic heat for an October day, it was AWESOME! I had invited a few of my friends down to join in on the fun and hang with my girl and I. We even got a chance to spend some time with Lou & Sue (dad & step-mom), and there was a guest appearance by my niece. Friends, family and food, what could be better? Half the plate was piled high with a more than ample serving of home fries. The fries were browned and tender. Some people may prefer a crisper potato. The bacon strips were full sized, not half cut like some places serve, and very crisp without being burned. I noticed another diner had ordered the sausage and the links served were quite large. All in all it was an excellent value for the money.Every day between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Tammie Coe Cakes has a rotating variety of small sized sandwiches for $2 each. Some possible sandwich selections: Tuna, turkey/avocado/roasted pepper, and a Cuban sandwich with mustard and pickles. Have 1, or mix it up.The food was delicious. There was a great choice between healthy nutritious food and treat type items. Food was available 6 times a day and everyone agreed that it was all fabulous. However it was definitely designed more towards children, with options such as nachos, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizzas etc. As far as the adults were concerned there was only one meal of slow cooker slow cooker corned beef sandwiches and cabbage, vegetables and mustard sauce that could really be classed as "adult type" food. However it didn't matter as there was always lots of salad and vegetables available and all the food was home made and tasty. When you want to feed a hungry crowd one pot camping meals are what you need to have.
